This Mountain Doesn't Belong To Us. We're Just Looking After It.

Tamborine Mountain is a biodiversity hotspot of South-East Queensland, with ancient rainforest, threatened wildlife, and a community who'd rather get their hands dirty than watch it disappear. Here's why we started, and where we're headed.

Why We Started

A Mountain Worth Fighting For

Greater gliders and koalas, both threatened species, have been confirmed on-site, sharing the same patch of bushland near the Skywalk entry. So have black cockatoos, pademelons, pretty-faced wallabies, and a soundtrack of kookaburras most of us take for granted. Thunderbird Rewilding Inc. exists to give that neighbourhood a fighting chance, with hands-on habitat restoration, native tree planting, wildlife conservation, and environmental education, all powered by the people who love this place. We're restoring habitats, inspiring community, and creating a wilder future for generations to come.

Connected, Not The Same

Part Of The Thunderbird Park Story. Our Own Conservation Mission.

Thunderbird Rewilding Inc. is an independently governed, not-for-profit conservation organisation. We're proudly connected to the Thunderbird Park legacy and work alongside Tamborine Mountain Glades, while following our own conservation mission, on our own terms.

Thunderbird Rewilding acknowledges the Wangerriburra people, Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work, and pays respect to their Elders past, present and emerging.
